Before joining IRSC as an Adjunct Faculty member in 2010, Ann Perrotta served in high level, appointed positions in Florida for state and local governments for over 25 years. Her responsibilities and interests were targeted at effectuating policy reforms, process improvements, organizational development and greater standards of accountability to the public and leadership served.
Prof. Perrotta is accredited by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), an organization dedicated to the sustainability and protection of land, its uses, natural resources and social justice. Her 25 plus years of practical work experience tasked her to use her sociological analytic skills along with administrative strategies and planning skills in order to bring about change. The reforms she worked to bring about were typically targeted at improving public service delivery systems or bettering the lives and neighborhoods of lower-income people. Some of these initiatives occurred through grant programs that she wrote and administered.
Ann Perrotta holds a B.A. from the State University of New York in Comparative Cultures and two Master’s degrees: one in Sociology, the other in Public Administration, both earned at Florida Atlantic University. She also earned certification from Florida International University in Total Quality Management. Throughout her public service career, Prof. Perrotta taught courses in Sociology, Social Problems, Organizational Communication and Urban Planning for a number of Florida colleges including Florida International University, Barry University and Broward Community (now State) College. Ms. Perrotta holds a Professional State of Florida Teacher Certification in Social Sciences (grades 6-12) and has been certified by IRSC to teach courses in Sociology, Public Administration and Student Success. She enjoys teaching and views it as an on-going opportunity to contribute to the stewardship of the environment and of human rights.
