Prior to starting a career teaching Keith worked in the Criminal Justice System in different capacities throughout the country. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Communication and minor in Adolescent Development from the University of Montana, he stayed in Missoula and worked as a youth care worker in a therapeutic residential facility, then as a court case manager and school counselor. After returning to school to get his Master’s degree in Sociology/Criminology Keith was employed as a certified juvenile probation officer and then as the program manager of Montana’s first Youth Drug Court Program. He then moved to Washington DC to become faculty for the National Drug Court Institute which developed trainings and trained court personnel around the country. Keith then was off to Vancouver Washington to manage multiple specialty court programs for Clark County, WA. and guest lecture at Washington State University-Vancouver. After getting his certification in Court Management from the National Center for State Courts he moved to Green Bay to work for the Wisconsin Supreme Court as a District Court Administrator.
Keith settled in Florida in 2008 to pursue more recreational activities; specifically scuba diving and started teaching Criminal Justice and Sociology courses at Eastern Florida State College (formally Brevard Community College) in addition to instructing at the Corrections/Law Enforcement Academy at the Criminal Justice Center in Melbourne FL. He also returns to the Missoula most summers to teach at the University of Montana in the Sociology/Criminology Department. Keith started teaching for IRSC in Jan 2015.
Keith was born in Rhode Island but claims the Big Sky country of Missoula Montana as home. Keith likes to stay busy and is an active certified referee for USA Rugby, USA Hockey and US Lacrosse. Keith is also a certified PADI scuba diver instructor and spends lots of time in the beautiful Florida waters teaching others to dive. When not out playing with his 2 furry pals, Expo and Turbo -he and his partner Jennett are traveling the country scuba diving, backpacking, skiing and enjoying the great outdoors.
