Dr. Dean Wagstaffe, who is a Jamaican-American, is an Associate Professor in the Social Sciences Department. He has been teaching full time at Indian River State College from 2004, but has over 15 years of teaching experience. He earned his Master’s and Ph.D. in Comparative Sociology/Anthropology from Florida International University in 2006. He teaches a variety of courses including Social Problems, Introduction to Sociology and Multicultural Issues. His areas of expertise include the Caribbean Diaspora in the United States, and social inequalities based on class, race and gender.
