Luis Girado M.Sc. Adjunct Professor of Economics Chastain and Pruitt campuses. Email: [email protected] |
I have expertise in three areas:
- Economic Optimization of Agricultural Operations (Business Analysis).
- Environmental Compliance for Water, Fertilizers and Chemicals in agricultural operations.
- Software development, Data management, Artificial Intelligence and Mapping with ARC GIS.
My background is in Agriculture, with an MS degree in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University. I speak fluent Spanish and English, and have worked in Latin American countries and in the US.
I have 20 years’ experience working in Integrated Food Companies who produce raw goods, industrialize them and sell them directly to the end consumer. Products like Sugar, rice, oil, flour, sausages, cooking mixes and bread are grown, manufactured and sold entirely by the same company. I became passionate about designing strategies for these type of companies, usually involving heavy development of software to model and control the business. I am pursuing a nanodegree in Artificial Intelligence at EDX to access new tools for this purpose.
My last job experience added the environmental component to the production process. South Florida is a very sensitive area where Sustainability and Water Quality are mandatory on the daily farm operation. I am responsible for keeping the operation under environmental compliance.
I have strong communication skills and am working as an associate professor of economics at Indian River State College since 2018. This I do mainly to inspire students to achieve a better future.
