Dr. Fontley R. Corrodus is a sought after motivational speaker, former college administrator, professor, and an ordained minister. Dr. Corrodus teaches sociology and psychology at Indian River State College, where he served for seven years as the Dean of the Division of Communications and Social Sciences.
Prior to arriving in the U.S., Dr. Corrodus was educated at Moneague Teachers' College and West Indies College (now known as Northern Caribbean University) in Jamaica. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and Psychology, and a Master's Degree in Educational Management from Tuskegee University. Dr. Corrodus continued his studies at Alabama State University and Auburn University, receiving an Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S) in Administration and Supervision and a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology respectively. His research in the Ph.D. program in Social Psychology at North Carolina State University focused on the challenges minority students face in predominately white school environments. Dr. Corrodus received a Ph.D. in Sociology from LaSalle University. He has completed post-doctoral studies at Nova Southeastern University in Higher Education Leadership, at Palm Beach Atlantic University in Psychology and at Northcentral University in Instructional Leadership.
Dr. Corrodus has published several important works including two college level textbooks on social problems. He holds membership in many professional associations including: the American Sociological Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, American Academy of Ministry, the National Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Alpha Kappa Delta, and Phi Delta Kappa. He is also a member of the Florida Association of Colleges, and the American Association of University Professors.
Dr. Corrodus has received many commendations for his contributions to education, the religious community and for his efforts to strengthen the family through his family life ministries. He has conducted workshops and seminars for singles, youth and couples in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean through his Family Life Ministries.
